Are you suffering from Ball of Foot Pain and wondering how to fix it? If so, Dr. Stuart Feldman will be happy to provide treatment that can help.
If you are feeling this discomfort, your metatarsal bones might be injured, inflamed, or abnormal. You might have bone abnormalities from genetic predisposition, disease, injuries, or having an overly long bone. Your foot pad’s fatty tissue may have atrophied (decreased). This generally happens after the age of 40. You are basically walking on your bones, without the needed protection that the fat pad normally provides. If you have a high arch or flat feet, this could also cause Ball of Foot Pain. Having hammertoes also causes pain by affecting how much weight is distributed across the foot.
Exercising, such as high impact activities, wearing too high of a heel, being over weight can all make the situation worse. Common treatments include icing, anti-inflammatory medicine and wearing a lower heel. If you’re still in pain, call Dr. Feldman
